The City of Edmonton has provided an update on its 132 Avenue Renewal Project and how it will impact traffic and access to our school.

The City of Edmonton has confirmed that 132 Avenue will re-open on Tuesday, September 1, between 90 Street and 86 Street. While this is good news, families should expect significant traffic congestion and delays when accessing our school due to the continued closure of 132 Avenue between 82 Street and 86 Street.

Traffic Impacts

As part of the renewal project, 132 Avenue will have two lanes, one in each direction. To help prepare you for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, please refer to the Information Bulletin and Map which shows access points, no parking zones, and other important information.

• There are three access points to our school: 86 Street, 88 Street, and 90 Street.
• For the first few days, city flaggers will be stationed at the following locations to help direct traffic:

o   86 Street and 130 Avenue
o   86 Street and 132 Avenue
o   90 Street and 132 Avenue

• Pick-up and drop-off zones will be located at the following locations:

o   88 Street betwen 132 Avenue and 131 A Avenue
o   89 Street between 131 A Avenue and 130 A Avenue
o   Along 131 A Avenue between 88 Street and 89 Street
o   87 Street and 131 A Avenue

• An accessible pick-up and drop-off zone will be available west of the school on 88 Street between 132 Avenue and 131 A Avenue. This is shown in light blue on the map.
• School bus pick-up and drop-off will remain in front of St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School on 132 Avenue.
• 88 Street is one-way for northbound traffic with no left turn allowed onto 132 Avenue.
• Parking is not allowed in the O'Leary Fitness and Leisure Centre parking lot.

132 Avenue Renewal Project

The 132 Avenue Renewal Project is a City of Edmonton infrastructure project. Edmonton Catholic Schools is sharing this information to help families prepare, but the City is responsible for construction decisions, timelines, and project updates.

Once completed, the City of Edmonton says these improvements will provide a safer and more accessible environment for our school community.
